The Volvo Ocean Race is coming to The Hague in June, and Batenburg will be there as city sponsor. By then, the boats will have covered 45,000 nautical miles. A brutal race with infinite water; saltwater to be exact. The boats endure real wear and tear because of all that salt. So selecting the right components at the design stage is essential. Main sponsor Volvo also has a reputation to uphold here for its cars.
Batenburg helps Volvo to guard this robust reputation. At Batenburg Bevestingsstechniek, the fasteners of the panoramic roofs are extensively tested in our salt spray booth.

ISO9227 compliant
These tests are performed and reported in accordance with ISO9227 NSS, ASTM B117 and the Volvo standard. The products are exposed to a salt solution in a sealed environment, at a constant temperature of 35 degrees Celsius for a predetermined number of hours. After this, they are evaluated to see if they are adequate for long life.
This guarantees Volvo’s robust quality, and indirectly we ensure you can safely look at the stars through these beautiful glass roofs.
