Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTHA) wants to be completely self-sufficient in electricity by 2025. In 2016, the first hangars were covered with no fewer than 1373 solar panels, and in 2018 the baggage hall was also equipped with 880 solar panels. With this, RTHA will not only be self-sufficient in energy, but the surplus energy will be supplied to the surrounding area.
Accessible transformer substation
To make this transition possible, we provided the connection to the energy grid by installing an accessible transformer substation. This substation is equipped with a transformer, a low-voltage distributor and a consumer substations for Stedin.

The solar panels at RTHA were installed by Saman Group. At Batenburg Energietechniek, we really enjoyed working with the Saman Group.
