Batenburg has taken a major step in the use of geothermal energy to heat horticultural businesses in a sustainable manner. This new development in horticulture contributes greatly to a cleaner and healthier future.

Our ‘Geothermal Heat Vogelaer’ project has received the ‘Innovation Award 2019’. This project saves about 17 million m³of natural gas per year and reduces annual CO₂emissions by 30 kilotons. This is equivalent to the CO₂consumption of some 13,000 households. The products grown in these horticultural businesses have therefore become much more sustainable.
