Geothermal energy

Batenburg has taken a major step in the use of geothermal energy to heat horticultural businesses in a sustainable manner. This new development in horticulture contributes greatly to a cleaner and healthier future.

Our ‘Geothermal Heat Vogelaer’ project has received the ‘Innovation Award 2019’. This project saves about 17 million m3of natural gas per year and reduces annual CO2emissions by 30 kilotons. This is equivalent to the CO2consumption of some 13,000 households. The products grown in these horticultural businesses have therefore become much more sustainable.
