Gerard van Dalen
Divisiedirecteur
For the new production site of spice manufacturer Euroma, Batenburg Techniek is providing all installations for the new building. All efforts are being made to ensure that Euroma will start using Europe’s most innovative and sustainable factory for herbs and spices in Zwolle by mid-2019. A large and special construction project in which our specialists of Batenburg Installatietechniek can apply all their knowledge and skills.
Alignment with process installations
Because of Euroma’s growth and constantly increasing production, a new factory of no less than 26,000 m² – including approximately 1,900 m² of office space – is being built in Zwolle. The new production site will enable Euroma to work more efficiently but also to triple its production volume in the coming years. In the preparation phase, Van Dalen was asked by the architect and the contractor for the installations. Euroma had provided a set of specifications with the requirements for each space. In close consultation with Euroma and the other construction partners, we applied our knowledge and expertise to come to a practical implementation. The integration and alignment of the building installations with the process installations and the electrical, gas and water capacities are crucial. As a result, our solution meets the requirements, both from the specifications and from the food sector, in the area of food safety.
Tried and tested
The project included a major construction project. The decision was made to work with systems and technologies that have been tried and tested many times, also together with the architectural contractor Aan de Stegge Twello. Within the construction team, we were trusted with the engineering of the installations. These include intrusion, access control, CCTV, data, underfloor heating, air conditioning, water, solar panels, electricity, transformers and rainwater drains. Batenburg Energietechniek provides the building with the right energy supplies by installing an accessible transformer substation and 4 transformers.
Heat Recovery
A special feature of this project is the Heat Recovery. The residual heat released from the steam plant’s cooling process is used to heat and provide hot water for the office. Some 2,700 solar panels provide sustainably generated electricity. This is in compliance with BREEAM Excellent but also with the future-proof use of installation technology.
