For Batenburg Techniek, 2021 was a successful year. Revenues increased to €262.1 million (2020: €236 million) and the normalized operating result rose to €19.3 million (2020: €16.2 million). The versatile technical service provider places a high emphasis on technological innovation and sustainability.
Ralph van den Broek, CEO of Batenburg Techniek, explains:
"Together with our clients, we are working towards a sustainable future. We improve existing technology and develop new technologies that are also applied. Such projects are focused on energy transition, solar and wind parks, as well as digitalization of the industry and infrastructure. A positive trend is that more and more start-ups and scale-ups want to collaborate with us to further develop new technologies."
Furthermore, Batenburg Techniek sees a significant increase in demand from clients for cybersecurity in industrial processes and vital infrastructure. Programs aimed at controlling cybersecurity risks are receiving significant attention.
According to Ralph van den Broek, Batenburg Techniek has been proactively addressing this development for several years. This includes the acquisition of Magion Industrial Automation, completed at the end of 2021. The company, with 65 consultants and software engineers, specializes in industrial cybersecurity and process control, optimization, and safety.
Positive Impact
Batenburg Techniek has developed a dedicated sustainability program to measure the positive impact of projects on climate and the environment, in collaboration with its clients. In 2021, 61% of the technical service provider's projects had a positive impact. The positive impact is specifically evaluated on the extent to which a project contributes to one of the selected Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
The positive impact is rapidly increasing. In 2019, 46% of all projects had a positive impact on climate and the environment, and by 2021, this percentage had already reached 61%. The company aims to achieve a minimum of 75% of all projects with a positive impact by 2030. Additionally, Batenburg Techniek adheres to the commitments of the Paris Climate Agreement. This means that by 2030, the company aims to reduce its own CO2 emissions by 55% compared to 2019 (baseline measurement).
