Together with our colleagues from JB Systems, we are working on the development of the Copal C2 Mobile from Copal Handling Systems. This is a mobile solution for unloading and palletising (burlap) bags and boxes from containers at any desired location.
Copal C2 Mobile
The previous version of the Copal C2 Mobile was a machine that was mainly operated manually. Two years ago, Copal therefore decided to completely renovate this machine so it could operate fully automatically. This meant a high degree of automation. To achieve this, they partnered with JB Systems to develop the software for the HMI and the basic control of the machine. They were also looking for a party that could supply a complete module with operator chair and controls, delivered as a unit. Batenburg Mechatronica was selected to be this partner.
Complete operator chair
We assemble and build the operator chair into complete modules at our production department in Rotterdam. Together with the Copal team, we have combined all the functionalities of the Copal C2 Mobile in two ergonomic joysticks. All movements and rotations are controlled with two joysticks, and the operator can now control the machine fully automatically.
Innovative piece of software
This innovative system also includes an innovative piece of software. This was developed by JB Systems in very close cooperation with Copal. The principle of the system is quite simple. A picture is taken of the contents of the container. Based on this picture, the hoisting points are determined. The arms and the grippers then remove the products from the container. They are then transported via a conveyor belt to a palletising robot, which creates a complete pallet out of them. This requires an enormous amount of data to be processed and managed, and that is what our software does.
